Designs the price list made
Which designs would not exist under a different price list, and how do you test that claim?
The claim, and how to test it
This article makes a claim that can be tested:
To test it, sort each consequence into one of three relationships between price and physics.
| Relationship | Meaning | Example in this article |
|---|---|---|
| Aligned | The price is just a louder version of the physical signal. | pruning, locality, file size |
| Orthogonal | Pricing creates pressure that physics does not supply. | egress gravity, cross-AZ placement, compression under scan pricing |
| Opposed | The cheapest design is the slower one. | designs that look irrational until you see the bill |
Two conditions apply to every verdict below. Each one is conditional on a query distribution (which queries you really run), and each is a ratio of two rates that both move over time. None of them is permanent.
